No Added Sugar vs Sugar-Free: How to Understand the Difference
Share
The short answer. “No added sugar” means no sugar was added to the recipe, though the food can still contain natural sugars. “Sugar free” is stricter. As we understand FSSAI’s rules, it needs no more than 0.5 g of sugars per 100 g, counting all sugars.
Habbitree’s No Added Sugar Almond Kulfi mix has 0.0 g added sugar but 1.9 g of total sugars per 100 g, so it is “no added sugar”, not “sugar free”.
