Black Kishmish, Dried Kiwi and Fruit Mix: Reading the Sugar Numbers
Share
Dried fruit can look alike on the shelf and still differ a lot on the label. Here is how three Habbitree products compare per 100 g: Black Kishmish, Sweetened Dried Kiwi and the Premium Fruit Mix. You can find them in the Premium Dry Fruits and Smart Snack Mixes collections.
Per 100 g

|---|---|---|---|
| Energy | 299 kcal | 312 kcal | 302 kcal |
| Total sugars | 59.0 g | 59.0 g | 61.2 g |
| Added sugars | 0.0 g | 45.0 g | 22.5 g |
| Dietary fibre | 3.7 g | 4.0 g | 4.5 g |

The same total sugar, a very different story
Black Kishmish and the dried kiwi both have 59.0 g of total sugars per 100 g. In the kishmish, all of it occurs naturally in the raisins, and the only ingredient is black raisins. In the kiwi, 45.0 g of it is added, and sugar is the second ingredient after kiwi.
Per 30 g serving that works out to 17.7 g of total sugars in either one. In the kiwi, 13.5 g of that is added sugar.
The Fruit Mix sits in between
The Fruit Mix is 30% black kishmish. The rest is dried apricot, sweetened cranberries, cherry and kiwi, and aam papad. That gives it 22.5 g of added sugar per 100 g, or 6.8 g per 30 g serving.
What about the cranberries?
The Sweetened Dried Cranberries page doesn’t include a nutrition table, but its ingredient list includes sugar. Check the pack for the full numbers.
How to use this
When you compare dried fruit, look at the Added Sugars row and the ingredient list, not only the total. “No added sugar” describes what was put in, not how much sugar the fruit contains naturally, which is high in all three products above.
Black Kishmish also lists 3.2 mg of iron per 100 g. For storage, keep each pack in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and reseal it after use. Refrigeration is recommended after opening.
